THE GEOGRAPHICAL CURRICULUM OF PROF. DR. ALI MUHAMMAD AL-MAYAH, BETWEEN AUTHENTICITY AND CONTEMPORARYNESS

Abstract

The science of economic geography or economic resources has become of great importance as a result of the multiplicity of human needs, and as a result of the division of the world into blocs and alliances, each bloc trying to satisfy most of its needs from its local resources. Economic geography is the study of production in its broadest sense, and aims in a scientific study to limit the various resources of natural and human wealth, their distribution, and to clarify the means of benefiting from them in the fields of agricultural, mining, industrial and commercial production, and what these means are exposed to in each field separately from the influences due to natural factors or that may differ from one region to another in the world.
The aim of the study was to get acquainted with an Iraqi scientist who is considered a bright sign in the history of contemporary geography with his distinguished efforts and contributions in economic geography. He is Professor Dr. At the Arab level, he is the owner of a distinguished geographical scientific school known as (Al- Mayah School), which is a methodologically rigorous school that keeps pace with successive international scientific developments.
