CHURCHES AND THEIR ROLE IN ANDALUSIA

Abstract

The church is one of the religious buildings that must be present in the Andalusian cities dedicated only to the people of the dhimmis, which are the category (Jews and Christians), in order to practice their rituals and worships completely freely as the state allowed them to do so, and the church is a place for the worship of the people of the dhimmis, and to establish their prayers and rituals, and it is not only It is a religious place, but it is considered a place of worship, holding religious and even political meetings, practicing rituals, marriage ceremonies, and the rest of the dealings with each other, and sometimes conflicts and rivalries are resolved in the church, and in it the ruler is chosen by the Pope and his blessing to him, and with its permission the crusades are launched, and by Its path is to send missionary campaigns (evangelization of the Christian religion), and given its importance and its active role in Andalusian society before and even after the entry of Islam to it in the year ( 96AH), we decided to study it in terms of its construction, what are the works that take place in it, and the nature of religious, social and political life in it
among people.
