CARTOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATION OF THE SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION MAPS OF THE POPULATION IN IRAQ FOR THE PERIOD (1987 – 2017)

Route Education and Social Science Journal

Abstract

This study came to shed light on the variation in the distribution of
Iraq's population according to gender, environment, and
governorates, and to represent this discrepancy cartographically.
The study confirmed that the population growth rates during the
time period approved in the study ranged between (3.04 to 2.27) due
to the influence of factors of varying intensity on the demographic
reality of the population with variation in the numerical and relative
distribution of the population, according to gender and environment.
According to the governorates and its contrast between the
administrative units (the governorates) by adopting the cartogram
maps that drew a picture of the spatial distribution of phenomena
according to their size and not according to the administrative units
(the governorates). The ideal population, the value of the population
distribution concentration ranged from (1987) to (2017) between
(42.10% - 43.79%) as a result of the influence of several factors that
imposed their reality on the variation in the image of the spatial
distribution of the population in the governorates.
