Route Education and Social Science Journal

Abstract

Social education has a prominent role in building the human
being, as it works to provide him with information, concepts
and skills that make him a productive individual in society.
Therefore, the problem of the current research lies in
answering the following question: What are the most
prominent features of social education in John Dewey? In
order to answer this question, the researcher set the
following goal (to identify the most prominent features of
social education in John Dewey)The researcher also relied
on the descriptive analytical approach to achieve the goal of
the research, and the research reached a group of the most
prominent features of social education for John Dewey,
including that the educational curricula seek to present the
aspects of social life, not to be a mere narration of events,
and that the function of education in the school is to make
change. In addition, education is both psychological and
social, as it seeks to prepare the individual to be a valid
member of the society in which he lives.
