JOURNALISTIC TREATMENT OF ECONOMIC CRISES IN THE IRAQI PRESS (AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF THE NEWSPAPERS AL-SABAH AND TARIQ AL-SHAAB FOR THE PERIOD FROM 9/1/2020 TO 10/31/2020)

Abstract

Newspapers are one of the most important media in dealing with crises, through their ability to interpret, explain, analyze and evaluate these crises, in addition to their commitment to the controls that govern their relationship with the public such as accuracy, objectivity, and dissemination of facts without exaggeration or intimidation, as the media is one of the most important tools for crisis management and for the treatment The journalist should play an active role. It should adopt the facts and interact with them, and provide detailed information in the light of consolidating and supporting the final goals, especially with regard to economic crises whose effects are not limited to the material aspect only, but extend to all aspects of life. The research problem was represented by the main question: (How The Iraqi press dealt with the economic crises), while the research aimed to identify the most important issues that represent economic crises in the Iraqi newspapers, in addition to revealing the investigation of the most important solutions offered during the journalistic treatment of economic crises in the Iraqi press, as well as determining the context in which the Iraqi press dealt with issues Economic crises, in order to come up with indicators about how Iraqi newspapers deal with economic crises, and this research was classified as The descriptive research, and the research adopted the survey method in order to achieve its goals, relying on the method of content analysis for a sample of the two newspapers Al-Sabah and the People’s Way for the period from 1/9/2020 to 10/31/2020) and it reached results, the most important of which are: The Iraqi press showed a clear and complete interest in Issues of economic crises, as they were at a high level in dealing with these issues, as well as the results showed that the Iraqi press dealt with the active forces in economic crises represented by the Iraqi government.
