Route Education and Social Science Journal

Özet

The study focused on (the impact of total credit and private credit on both unemployment and the labor force in Iraq for the period 2004- 2020) to identify the contribution of commercial banks to reducing the rampant unemployment in Iraq. Using the eviews-10 program, a regression test was conducted to identify the impact of both total and private credit on unemployment and the labor force, and the study concluded that the relationship between the independent variable (credit granted to the private sector) and the dependent variable (unemployment) is a direct relationship, as the increase in the independent variable The dependent variable will increase, and this is contrary to the logic of the economic theory, which states that increasing the granted credit leads to a reduction in unemployment, but it was different in Iraq, and it also concluded that the percentage of influence of total credit on the labor force is few. Therefore, we find in Iraq a small number of the labor force compared to The volume of credit available in banks, especially government banks, and the study recommends the need for banks to pay more attention to the credit provided, which suffers from investment activities, more than what is provided to consumer activities, which increases unemployment.
